Removing adhesive stains – including glue and nail varnish
Dab nail varnish remover onto the affected piece of material (except on synthetic fabrics such as nylon and polyester), then wash with Ariel Original Washing Liquid according to the fabric care label.
Removing ink stains – including ballpoint and felt tip
Soak overnight in cold water containing a bit of washing detergent, then wash with Ariel Washing Gel Original according to the care label. Dab older stains with nail varnish remover (not suitable for synthetic fabrics), then wash as normal.
Removing rust stains
Brush off the excess of the rust stains. For regular fabrics, rinse under cold water to dilute the stain, before soaking in a bucket of water with 3 tablespoons of baking powder for 30 minutes. Then wash according to the care label with a liquid detergent such as Ariel Original Washing Liquid.
Removing mould stains
Rinse under hot running water before soaking for at least 2 hours in a solution of warm water and Ariel powder. Then wash as usual, according to the care label, with Ariel Original Washing Powder.
Removing vomit stains
You don’t want vomit left hanging around so remove as much as possible under running cold water. Soak in water containing Ariel Original Washing Liquid, then wash with your Ariel Original Washing Liquid as normal.
Removing candle wax stains
Peel off any surface wax, then sandwich the fabric between sheets of blotting paper, or kitchen towels. Use a warm iron to press down on the back of the fabric. Then wash with Ariel All-in-1 PODS Washing Capsules Original as normal according to the fabric care label.
Removing petroleum jelly stains
It leaves a nasty smear on your clothes and may require several treatments, but don’t despair. Pre-treat the stain: get rid off the excess of the stain with a spoon, soak the garment in warm water for 30 minutes in the sink with Ariel Original Washing Powder, then wash it as normal with Ariel Original Washing Powder.
Removing shoe polish stains
Whatever the colour, simply soak the clothes in a sink with Ariel Original Washing Liquid in warm water for an hour, then wash them with Ariel Original Washing Liquid as normal at the hottest temperature indicated on the care label.
Removing chewing gum stains
If you want to know how to remove chewing gum from clothes, it is easier to remove when it’s hard, so place the affected item into a bag in the freezer, or put ice onto the gum (rub it on the gum at least for 30 minutes). Once it’s hardened, you’ll find it breaks off quite easily. Then wash with Ariel Original Washing Liquid as normal.
Removing blood stains
Put the garment under running water and pre-treat the stain with Ariel Original Washing Liquid or Ariel Original Washing Powder in cold water, then wash in cold water using your usual Ariel Original Washing Liquid detergent that can give further stain removal even at 30 degrees.
