How Your Donation Will Help

More than one billion people in developing countries around the world do not have access to clean, safe drinking water. With no running water, families in developing countries have no choice but to drink from contaminated rivers and streams, which leads to the deaths of more than 4000 children every day*.

With the British public’s help, Ariel will provide safe drinking water to families in crisis in the developing world. Ariel is working in partnership with the Children’s Safe Drinking Water Programme. Since its launch in 2003, it has provided more than 1 billion litres of clean drinking water for children and their families in 30 developing nations.

Ariel is also working with Five & Alive, a programme that reaches children five and under to prevent and treat malaria, water-borne illness, pneumonia and malnutrition by providing education, products, services and care.

Ariel’s safe drinking water donation will be supplied to the countries where Five & Alive is using the PUR™ Purifier of Water technology – sachets of a powder that cleans and purifies water to World Health Organisation standards for safe drinking water, importantly reducing diarrheal illness. Each 4g sachet can purify 10 litres of water, with the campaign aiming to donate a total of 80 million litres of safe drinking water to children in developing countries.
